BIRTH: 28 April 1805 Christened on this date in Longhope, on the southern tip of Hoy, South Walls, Orkney, Scotland.
MARRIAGE: 1 February 1827 Robert, aged 22, married Christiana Anderson (Christie), two years his elder. The marriage took place in Longhope, Walls and Flotta, Orkney ... birthplace of both the bride and groom.
DEATH: 25 September 1849 Robert died, relatively young, as a result of smallpox in his 45th year, in Longhope. His sister, Margaret, died eight weeks later, also due to smallpox. He was apparently buried in Osmondwall Cemetery, though this is unconfirmed.
Robert appears in the 1841 Census residing with (sic) Christy at Fea, Walls and Flotta, Orkney along with his seven oldest children His occupation is listed as a farmer.
