A daughter ... at last!
BIRTH: 18 February 1890 A sister, finally, for the boys in the Sutherland household. The second to be born in Bilbster near Wick, Caithness, where their father continues to work as a ploughman. By now, "Jock" is probably learning the skills of his dad's ploughing abilities.
MARRAIGE: 18 June 1915 Barbara marries Andrew MacKay, a lorryman, in the Royal Hotel, Tain. A widower, and ten years her senior at 35, residing at the time at King Street in the town. Barbara's marriage certificate states that she was residing at Heathmount at the time, and that her father, Robert, was marked as being "deceased"!
